GPT Agents Built Their Own Government in Minecraft

YC Labs and Olam Labs put 50 copies of OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol into a survival Minecraft world for three hours with one goal: "Build a thriving civilization." Their report, Agents in Games (October 2026), says the agents harvested almost every tree near the spawn within 90 seconds, that 22 of the run's 34 deaths came on the first night, and that they built a pseudo-government with a ration ledger, written rules, permits and appointed operators. 46 of the other 49 agents sent their first message to Ada, the first name on the roster, and there was no vote. Four agents spent 11 minutes appointing a "sole fertilizer operator" for one piece of bone meal.
