Wired: Contractor Gave Claude Pentagon Logins

Wired reports, citing sources, that a contractor employed by Accenture connected a secure Defense Department system to their personal account for Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent, and gave the agent their login credentials. Wired's source says that gave the agent administrative access and let it bypass the security controls of the normal login, and Wired reports the agent ran on the network for two months before it was found (Wired, October 29, 2026).
