The Pentagon Classified Anthropic As A Supply-Chain Risk

In April 2026 the Pentagon blacklisted an AI lab for saying no to mass surveillance and autonomous weapons.

The Pentagon classified Anthropic as a "supply-chain risk", same designation as foreign adversaries, after Anthropic refused unrestricted Claude access for domestic mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. Anthropic sued, won an injunction. Google signed the contract Anthropic refused, the same week Google said it would invest up to $40B in Anthropic.
