DeepSeek’s Agent Can Start Work Nobody Asked For

On Saturday Oct 31, DeepSeek's Harness team put the code for what its README calls "a proactive coding agent for one GitHub repository" on GitHub, under the MIT licence. The README's first line says: "Research prototype for reference only, not an official DeepSeek product." On Sunday the headlines, relaying Bloomberg through The Next Web and Techmeme, said it can watch developers' group chats and suggest solutions without being summoned.
